The Importance of Estate Planning

Estate planning is not just a legal formality; it is an act of faith and foresight. It ensures your wealth is distributed in accordance with Allah’s commands, safeguards your family’s future, and allows you to fulfill your religious duty of leaving behind clear guidance. Having a proper Islamic estate plan means your affairs are organized, your loved ones are protected, and your legacy aligns with your deen.

Obligation from Qur’an

“It is prescribed for you, when death approaches any of you and you leave behind wealth, that you make a will in favor of your parents and near relatives according to what is acceptable — a duty upon the righteous.”

— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:180)

Obligation from Hadith

The Prophet ﷺ said: “It is not right for a Muslim who has anything to bequeath to stay for two nights without having his will written and kept ready with him.”

— Sahih al-Bukhari (2738)
